About Me
EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
I believe in establishing a base and then using what was learned in real situations. I adapt lessons to the needs of students and the type of learner that they are. I won’t continue on until my students are comfortable with what they’re learning.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
I have a BA in French Language and Culture from Penn State University. I received French certificates from Middlebury College, Universite de Grenoble (France), and Universite de Montreal (Canada). I also have a Master’s Degree in Teaching English as a Second Language, graduating with distinction, from Hawaii Pacific University. I’ve also passed the Praxis II ESOL exam.
TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I have taught elementary ESL; college ESL, English, and introductory French; middle-school reading skills; and private adult English lessons. My ESL and English teaching included grammar, writing, reading, listening, and speaking.
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
I like to read just about any genre, run long distances, and travel. I like meeting new people and learning about new places and things. I enjoy learning the stories and history behind places.
