EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
Within a child lies a treasure trove of learning and teaching; inspirational teachers dig for these priceless nuggets and help foster a lifelong yearning for learning and making a difference in the world.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
I went to the University of West Alabama where I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and also received my Master’s Degree in Teaching at the same institution. I am a certified teacher in both Alabama and Georgia.
TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I have taught for nineteen consecutive years and substituted for one year at the onset of my career (1995). I am currently being certified as a Education Specialist in Alabama and will be renewing my Georgia Teacher License to reflect the same.
I have taught grades 3-12, as well as adults, in elementary through college settings.
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
I have happily served as a Junior Girl Scout Leader, secretary for two non-profit organizations, and Class Sponsor/Field Trip Coordinator. In addition, I have served as a motivator for the middle school athletes and cheerleaders at my long-term job at North Sumter Jr. High School (AL).
STANDARDIZED TEST RESULTS
I have taken the Miller’s Analogy Test (passed), the Comprehensive Exam (passed), and Live Text Porfolio (passed) for my Master of Arts in Teaching and Education Specialist degrees (2009-2014).
