Every child can learn but not every child learns the same way. Literacy is the backbone of every other subject and if students can’t or won’t read it hurts them across the board. I have a passion for reading and writing and infuse students with that passion as well.

I turned my passion for books into a career path and went back to school to teach. I received a Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary English Education and after teaching for a year started working on my Master’s Degree in English Education. I am a certified teacher in Tennessee.

I have taught high school English for four years. During that time I have also had Creative Writing and ACT Prep classes. I have worked with some of the highest reaching AP and Honors students and some of the lowest performing inclusion students who still found success in my room.

My oldest son is in the high school band and my younger two children are just getting started with band so we are always running. When I’m not driving them I love to read, swim, or play card games with the family.

I received a composite score of 28 on my ACT exam.
