EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
Rather than teaching isolated facts, students should be led to “connect the dots” so as to recognize patterns and concepts. The educator must help the student feel comfortable in in dealing with controversial
matters.
matters.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
My undergraduate and graduate work was done in history. My Master’s work, done at Case Western Reserve University, focused on 19th century British history. I hold a permanent Ohio Teaching Certificate.
TEACHING EXPERIENCE
In the course of 30 years I have taught all of the social studies at the senior high school level: American History, AP American History, World History, Economics, Government, Psychology, and Sociology. I have also taught Government at the local Community College.
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
At one high school I taught at, I was in charge of the National Honor Society, the Junior-Senior Prom, and the Homecoming. I was President of the teachers organization and chief negotiator in contract talks with the Board of Education.
Following my retirement from teaching I was hired to manage the Volunteer Program for Greater Cleveland Habitat for Humanity.
