SUBJECTS
EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
Students should be actively engaged in their own learning, and the teacher should be flexible with being able to take on the role of modeler, facilitator, or lecturer, depending on the needs of the student.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
I earned my BA, MA, and PhD in English literature. My emphasis for my PhD is in nineteenth-century American literature, ecocriticism, and feminism. I also have my secondary English certification for grades 7-12.
TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I was a full-time substitute for ninth grade English students in 2003 and taught college students from 2004-2012. I also have experience helping students prepare for the SAT exams.
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
I enjoy reading, gardening, dancing, volunteering for animal welfare groups, and playing the piano.
I also enjoy nature and many activities involved in it such as hiking and camping. Finally, I enjoy playing organized sports for recreation, such as volleyball and dodge ball.
