About Me
SUBJECTS
EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
Learn by doing is my philosophy. Particularly with subjects like Math or Physics, there is no guarantee that students truly understand a particular topic until they try solving problems and succeed at that. Learn by having fun is also part of my philosophy. With younger students in particular I like to conduct very interactive, activity-based tutoring sessions.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
I am the recipient of a M.Sc in Physics from the University of Milan (Italy) and a Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Rome (Italy). I have authored 25 articles published in international peer-reviewed journals and worked as a Post-Doctoral Fellow at the University of Alberta (Canada) for over 3 years.
TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I have been a tutor for over 25 years helping students from Elementary School to University in Math, Physics, Chemistry and Science in general. I have been also preparing students for the SAT and ACT for the last few years. My tutoring experience ranges from one-on-one, to classroom settings to online tutoring. I am very active in promoting public education in schools (K-12), community leagues and various non-profit associations. I am also a long standing member of the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada and conduct presentations and seminars at events that have an astronomical component.
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
I have been an avid Amateur Astronomer for more than 30 years. I owned two fairly large telescopes which I use to either conduct visual observations as well as astrophotography. Another passion of mine is poring over advanced Math and Physics books. I also enjoy jogging and spending time with my family.
