Geometry Tutor – Program Details
The Geometry tutors at SchoolTutoring Academy help students become skilled with foundational topics that are used extensively in future mathematics study. Our program includes lesson plans that cover the following topics:
- Course Topic: Analytic and Coordinate Geometry
This Geometry tutoring program introduces the concept of points and line segments. Basic operations on line segments are introduced including length, midpoint and slope. Algebraic connections are made by introducing the equation of a line and circle. Finally, solving linear systems and linear-quadratic system using graphing methods is used to help connect algebraic and graphical concepts. - Course: Deductive and Euclidean Geometry
This tutoring program covers axioms and theorems on the point, line and Euclidean plane. The concept of proofs, various methods of proof (including Indirect Proofs) is discussed. The course concludes with a variety of Proofs via Transformation and Theorems. - Course: Similarity
This Geometry tutoring program covers many of the concepts of both Trigonometry and Geometry. This includes defining Similar Triangles, discussing various proofs involving Similar Triangles, and introducing the Mean Proportional Theorem. The course concludes with real-world examples of similar triangles through word problems. - Course: Geometry of Various Two-Dimensional Shapes
This tutoring program introduces various properties of two-dimensional shapes including Circles, Rectangles, Squares and general Quadrilaterals. Concepts involving the Circle, including tangents and chords are introduced. General properties and formulas of two-dimensional shapes such as angles, area, tangents, sectors, and arcs are covered. The tutoring program also includes word problems that relate two-dimensional shapes. - Course: Three-Dimensional Geometry
This tutoring program builds on concepts from two-dimensional geometry concepts and introduces Solid Geometry using a variety of three-dimensional shapes. Equations involving Cubes, Spheres and Planes are introduced. The course concludes with advanced topics in parallel and perpendicular planes.
